Type, purpose and scope of the data collection
When downloading the app, the download time and the individual device number (International Mobile Equipment Identity – IMEI) are transferred to the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
When using the app, the IP address, the IMEI of the smart phone and time stamp are collected for technical reasons.
You will be asked if you want to link your SIGMA training equipment with the SIGMA LINK app via Bluetooth.
You can also voluntarily enter a name and enter the following data for purposes of calculating calorie and heart rate zone:
- Weight
- Date of birth
The app links the data collected from your SIGMA training equipment (e.g., bike computer, running watch, heart rate monitor, wearables) to give you an overview of your sports activities using the SIGMA training equipment. The data is stored locally on your smart phone.
The SIGMA training equipment transmit the data by means of NFC technology (Near Field Communication) and/or BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) to prevent misuse of data by third parties who could also read the SIGMA LINK app using NFC technology or BLE. We recommend that you do not leave the SIGMA training equipment unattended, such as leaving it on your bike.

Settings:
You will be asked to start the app, which settings you want to make. These include using the CLOUD service, entering your SIGMA training equipment that are to be linked with the LINK app, enabling Bluetooth to allow access to accessories, and whether you would like to incorporate user accounts from social networks.

- SIGMA CLOUD
If you decide to load your activity data onto the SIGMA DATA CENTER via the SIGMA CLOUD, the data will be processed by the contractually obligated partner in the EU commissioned by us.
In connection with the data processing in the SIGMA CLOUD, SIGMA-ELEKTRO GmbH can collect information about your use and the performance of the service. This includes information about your Internet service provider, information about when the software starts, the duration of the session of using the service, information about the content used by the service, and the occurrence of technical errors.
- SIGMA training equipment
The linking of your SIGMA training equipment means that the SIGMA LINK app can provide you with an overview of your training results in the form of a dashboard.
- User accounts from social networks
If you would like to voluntarily link user accounts from social networks such as Strava, Training Peaks, 2Peak, Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp or e-mail, we point out that the link will give them access to your data. For the nature, purpose and scope of this external data collection and processing, please refer to the privacy policy of the relevant networks.
- Videos
The SIGMA LINK app offers video tutorials on SIGMA channel on YouTube. The videos are linked, only the preview page of the videos is displayed via a two-click solution. This will only establish a connection to YouTube by transferring the preview screen.
When you play the video, the following data is transmitted to Google as the YouTube operator:
- IP address
- The specific address of the page called up by us
- The transmitted identifier of the browser as well as
- The system date and time of the visit
- Already existing cookies, by which your browser can be clearly identified.
Google is the sole operator of YouTube for this data collection. For more information about Google’s data collection and processing, please see here.
Legal basis
The collection and processing of the data by the SIGMA LINK app takes place for the contractual use of the app on the basis of Art. 6 para. 1 lit. b GDPR.
Storage period
Deleting the app on your smart phone also deletes the corresponding data.
